Over the course of many years of managing freight hauls, driveaway transports, asset recoveries and provisioning storage space, the Coldiron Companies management team determined more effective means would have to be developed to gain time efficiency for customers and for drivers alike. Driver labor would have to be reduced as well as driver compensations would need to be increased to bear the rising costs of fuel, necessary insurance, mandated self-employment taxes and the rising costs of work related tools.

With Coldiron Companies innovative T&E Trailer technology, drivers are able to transport units either as singles, 2-ways, 3-ways or 4-ways with a personal vehicle in tow providing them the opportunity to be dispatched to the next transport choice without delay.

Time Savings & Equipment Savings
Wrecker booms, regular 2-way booms, and the decking of trucks are very common practices and valid in the industry, however they do require many hours of driver labor to set up. The T&E Trailer technology provides for a hook-up and unhook time of approximately forty-five minutes to an hour, including the time needed for processing paperwork.

The T&E Trailer technology allows for the hauling of additional saddles and a portable boom, along with the personal vehicle. This effective movement of the driver’s “tools of the trade” gives the driver the ability to be dispatched to any type of transport requested. When a driver transports three trucks, the second unit is decked by the hydraulics of the trailer, so the decking fee that would have been associated to the regular decking method for the second unit, can be used in various ways.

When the trailer is loaded with a personal vehicle being towed behind a single unit, it rests on the road as a trailer would in a regular application.  However, when the trailer is loaded and connected in a 2-way, 3-way or 4-way transport, it rides off the ground giving the personal vehicle 100% less wear and tear versus an application of when a personal vehicle is simply being pulled.

Increased Revenue
These technological advances in equipment show profitable results. Better management of the dispatch system is one result which directly offers Coldiron Companies customer’s dollar savings. For example: Deadhead fees that would normally need to be paid to a driver by the customer can be eliminated due to the driver being ready for any type of transport wherever and whenever he/she may be.

The driver now has more dispatch options. He/she can operate within the United States knowing that no matter the type of truck/tractor move requested, he/she is able to quickly move and take advantage of the dispatch available.

Also, a team concept can be developed and drivers can split loads for better compensation. For example: A man and wife team may choose to run together and deliver three, four, five or six trucks at a time to increase efficiency directly related to profitability.

Potential Earnings
Everyone’s bottom line needs to increase in this treacherous economy. When the savings are passed down the line to the driver, the driver can raise his transport efficiencies and increase his control over his/her earnings.

Coldiron Companies drivers can earn up to $100,000.00 plus, per year utilizing the T&E Trailer technology. Out of the top ten drivers that owned a T&E Trailer, their average pay was $75,000.00 for 2008. The single move drivers had an average pay of $47,000.00 for 2008. The average pay for the drivers performing deck set moves is still to be determined.

Our planning for future driver efficiencies combined with improved industry transport technologies will enhance your bottom line as an “on the road businessperson” and the management team at Coldiron Companies knows that if we can make you successful, we will in turn be successful as a complete transport team.

Buying/Leasing a Trailer
All T&E Trailers are provided through a “lease to purchase” sale agreement. The cost of the trailer is $25,000.00 and the payment per month is $500.00.  We ask for a down payment of $3,000.00 to ensure the commitment to the concept of use and as well, will provide payment withdraws direct from your driver pay.  As an option, $125.00 per week payment or a 5% payment from your total driver revenue may be withheld. Whichever amount is greater would apply to the payment.

During the course of time, prior to full purchase of the trailer, if you choose to leave Coldiron Companies as an independent contract driver, the trailer will need to be returned to Coldiron Companies in good operating condition to the corporate office in Edmond, OK.
